Separate styles for in-site links and external links

Great idea, Gajendra! Differentiating link styles visually helps users understand where they're going. Think of it like flappy bird – you need to know what's ahead. Internal links are like navigating the familiar pipes of our site; external links are like soaring off to a whole new game. A clear visual cue improves user experience and reduces accidental exits. This small change could have a big impact on engagement.

I think the idea of having separate styles for in-site and external links is excellent! It would really help users distinguish between the two quickly, improving the overall navigation experience. This kind of functionality could be essential for websites with a lot of content or third-party references. It reminds me of how some popular games like Snow Rider 3d have clear and intuitive designs that make it easier for players to engage without confusion. Implementing a similar clear and user-friendly system on websites would definitely be a step in the right direction.

Gajendra Singh Dhir I also have a relative link to a single page app that is hosted on the same domain but I want that external link icon and I cannot put icon with the relative path link. I am forced to use the full url

That's definitely on my todo-list :) External links are already differentiated in navbars/footers/etc. We just have to port that to all in-text links.

Joshua Chen: If you point me in the right direction, I am willing to put in some time to carry out the task.

Gajendra Singh Dhir: It's not an easy API to design. We would need to discuss it in the form of an RFC issue first.
